TITLE:                              Investigating Missing Adults

LOCATION:                   Central Shenandoah Criminal Justice Academy, 3045 Lee Highway, Weyers Cave, Virginia

DESCRIPTION:             This 2-1/2 day course will address critical, practical, and investigative tools, federal legislation and resources YOU and YOUR AGENCY need to know to effectively respond to reports of missing adults.  This is a MUST-HAVE training for law enforcement and criminal justice agencies.  Topics covered are: Definition and Scope of Missing Adult Problem; The Family Perspective and Victim Impact, Application of Federal, State and Local Supporting Resources, DNA Methodologies, Developing a Model Policy and a Comprehensive Multi-Jurisdictional Community Assessment Plan, Leveraging Media Resources, Legal Considerations, and Practical Case Development.

                                    NOTE: This training is designed for investigators, detectives, college campus police officers, police academy instructors, dispatchers, and policy makers.

PREREQUISITES:          Law Enforcement, Jails, Court Services, Communications

 

PRIORITY:                    Class size: 50

 

IN-SER CREDIT:            16 hours CDE / 4 hours legal / 0 Cultural Diversity

 

TUITION:                     $ 295 regardless of Academy affiliation. Make checks payable to Academy.

 

MEALS:                        Participants are responsible for all meals and/or accommodations.

 

LODGING:                   Limited academy dormitory space may be available.  Participants may also find hotel accommodations available at the Holiday Inn Golf & Conference Center, (540) 248-6020, (I-81 & Exit 225 Staunton, Va.); the Ramada Inn (540) 248-8981, (I-81 & Exit 227 Staunton, Va.); Hampton Inn, 85 University Blvd., (540) 432-1111, (I-81 & near Exit 247 Harrisonburg, Va.); or the Ramada Inn, (540) 434-9981, (I-81 & Exit 243 Harrisonburg, Va.).
